For nearly 15 years, Bergeron was the host of Dancing With The Stars. While others have hosted since he departed from the show, it hasn’t been the same. Bergeron’s comedic background made him a perfect choice to riff with contestants and the judges. His background as a radio personality catered to Bergeron’s quick response time. He seemingly never missed a beat, which was echoed via the nine Primetime Emmy Award nominations Bergeron accrued throughout his time on the show.
13. Cat Deeley (So You Think You Can Dance)
Cat Deeley’s contribution to So You Think You Can Dance is integral to the success of the show. She brings infectious enthusiasm, warmth, and a genuine passion for dance. It comes as no surprise that he’d one day fall into the role of hosting multiple shows. For one, he’s quick on his feet and pivots brilliantly when interviewing people live on air. Secondly, Cannon’s comprehensive level of talent is something few can match. Cannon’s rapport with Ken Jeong on The Masked Singer is also hilarious.
11. Alan Cumming (The Traitors)
Alan Cumming is so good in this role. He’s a classically trained actor who’s been in a multitude of excellent projects throughout his illustrious career. In this case, the Scottish icon is hosting a mystery competition show at a castle in his native country. While the tone of the show is both devilish and conniving, Cumming has immense fun with it. He’s both over-the-top and dramatic in the best way possible. Even though he’s technically not a competitor, his persona on The Traitors arguably outshines anyone else’s. It’s not a surprise that this show and its iterations have become massive hits over the last year.
10. Jesse Palmer (The Bachelor/Bachelorette)
Taking over for Chris Harrison, former football player Jesse Palmer has become a fixture on the hit ABC shows The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, The Golden Bachelor, and Bachelor in Paradise. Unlike other hosts (and perhaps the one that preceded him), Palmer never makes it about himself. He’s simply a passenger on this juggernaut of a cruise ship. Where he first gained traction was as the host of American Idol. There was something about Seacrest that enabled him to connect to both audiences watching at home along with those on the show. From contestants to their families, as well as the various slate of judges over the years, Seacrest comes off as a very likable figure.

Survivor would not be what it is without Probst as the host. While not the biggest personality, his simple yet endearing style has led to a fan base that absolutely loves him. He’s been the host of the show since its initial season back in 2000. After an astonishing 46 seasons as the show’s primary host, he’s even added ‘director’ and ‘executive producer’ to his credits.
3. Maury Povich (Maury)
“You are NOT the father!” Maury Povich’s self-titled daytime show was wild, to say the least. Much like another show that will follow later within this piece, Povich etched himself into the zeitgeist of the 90s/2000s. With the topic matter focusing primarily on paternity tests and cheating, Povich almost acted as a pseudo-therapist when aiming to help these reckless people. This also extended to those who had unusual phobias (anyone remember the woman who feared olives?). Say what you will about the show and its content, but there’s a reason it was on television for 31 seasons and nearly 5,550 episodes.
2. Padma Lakshmi (Top Chef)
Despite recently leaving the show after 20 seasons, Padma Lakshmi was the glue binding Top Chef together. She had a unique persona to her — which paired sophistication with humor and a down-to-earth feel you wouldn’t necessarily expect to find from someone who looks like a supermodel. Her chemistry with Gail Simmons and Tom Colicchio was great, and she will be sorely missed on this cooking competition program.
1. Jerry Springer (The Jerry Springer Show)
The lines between reality and scripted are most certainly blurred here. However, there’s no denying the impact this show had on pop culture throughout the United States. Even if you didn’t watch The Jerry Springer Show, you most certainly knew about it. The storylines were bonkers, the egged-on brawls were welcomed, and — all the while — Springer stood in the audience offering quips of humor and utter astonishment at what he was witnessing. That part wasn’t manufactured at all. Springer was a genuine person in that regard. As such, for a generation of people who watched daytime TV, and kids who were home sick watching the show out of the sight of their parents, he’ll always be remembered as a titan within the realm of reality television.
